How do I identify which coupling and adaptor profile that I have?

Identifying couplings can be difficult, especially if there is no branding etched or printed on the sleeve - and when it comes to adaptors, different profiles do not interchange. For example, an XF-Euro adaptor will not fit into a Vertex coupling. A standard adaptor will loosely fit into an XF-Euro Coupling, however this will result in a loss of air flow. Therefore the most important aspect of identifying couplings and adaptors is to establish their profile.

Our range of couplings can be easily identified by the edge of the coupling where they feature the prefix of the part number, for example:

Part Number Prefix Series
AC21 Airflow Coupling
AC91 Vertex Coupling
AC71 XF-Euro Coupling
SC21 Safeflow Safety Coupling

Our range of standard series and high flow XF couplings listed above can also be identified as a genuine PCL product by the distinctive blue silicone band.

Our catalogue also places our couplings and adaptors in series so it’s easy to see which fit together, whilst our handy "actual size adaptor profile" chart on page 19 enables adaptors to be matched to the outlines of those shown on the page to help you easily find your adaptors interchange and thread size.

Couplings are often referred to as either "females" or "sockets" or "couplers".

Nominal bore is the term used for the internal diameter of the hole that runs through the length of the coupling / adaptor.
